Design Feeds The Big Apple

After a week of intense voting and customer input, UncommonGoods and City Harvest are proud to announce the winner of the Harvest Plate Design Challenge.

We’re pleased to congratulate Michael White, who hails from the Los Angeles area, for his simple yet compelling design. Although he’s only visited New York a few times, he immediately connected with City Harvest’s mission when he read about the contest at Illustration Friday.

Michael is a freelance illustration and graphic designer who told us, “I’m so excited, I can’t contain myself!” when he learned the good news. He will receive $1,000 prize and see his spin on the NYC skyline turned into a Plate with Purpose (TM).

If you’re as excited as we all are, you can pre-order our newest Plate with Purpose (TM) later this week. The plate will be available for purchase in Fall 2011, just in time to make a meaningful holiday donation to City Harvest, the world’s first food rescue organization.

UncommonGoods received more than 90 entries in their first design challenge. Up next is our Uncommon Jewelry Challenge, where we’ll be looking for jewelry and accessories with a unique twist. Think you’ve got what we’re looking for? Sign up for our email updates, or check out our designs page to learn more about upcoming opportunities for you to share your work with us.
