When I found out I was pregnant, my father was so very supportive. The only thing he was upset about was the food I had in my dorm room! He also spent his time, money, and effort into building an addition onto his home for my daughter to have a nursery room. (: I love my father.

My dad has been a firefighter/police officer his entire career. He has dedicated his life to to protecting the safety of everyone else. I am very prod of him for this. He is also one of the most compassionate and dedicated individuals a kid could ask for. He supported my sister and I, no matter how crazy our ideas were! A lot of kids may not talk to their parents every day, but a day doesnt pass that I do call my dad to “check-in”, and Im 28 years old! He’s just simply the best!

With so many dads in the world today who don’t take care of their kids, I have to remember my own dad. Growing up he was in aviation for work. He started off at the ground level and went through many different layoffs. We never knew he was layed off. We never went hungry. We never had government assistance. One time when he was layed off he got a job as a pressure washer at the oil refineries. He was almost 50; his coworkers were 18. He did a job most men wouldn’t dream of doing. My dad is a quiet man who has worked his way to bigger and better things but still keeps his humble roots. I grew up praying one day I would marry a man just like him. A man and dad who wouldn’t do anything for his family, teaching them the values of hard ork and determination and how to be humble and honest. Because of him I am now a full time student and wife and mother striving to have the characteristics of my father. I am so blessed to have him.

My dad worked in the Air National Guard via civil service for over 30 years. We were always SO proud to have a dad who fixed F-16s! My dad has always been supportive of his 3 daughters especially when he became a single dad when we were beginning our teenage years–beating us in basketball as kids (never letting us win),fixing our junker vehicles, helping over the phone to diagnose household mechanical difficulties when we moved away(and teaching me that I can fix a multitude of things myself), and lending us money when we needed it during our impoverished college days.

Now that we are grown and he is retired, he is a wonderful grandpa to my sons and to his 2 grand-daughters. He plays with them, builds tree houses that are the envy of the neighborhood kids, and allows my sons to jabber about anything with him on the phone since we live 8 hours away. He would love this firehose belt because it is exactly the type of gift my boys would pick out for him. 🙂

Like any dad protective of their only daughter, my dad always seemed a little suspicious of my boyfriends and was tougher on the curfew question than my mom. But after a particularly heart-shattering boyfriend break-up in high school, my dad showed me how much he knew I was hurting when he gave me a bouquet of flowers and filled a card with such supportive and tender words, that I can still get a little watery when I think of it now. He’s a hero to me because he is sensitive and generous and would do anything for his kids, and now grandkids.

My father supported 5 of his own children and 2 foster boys throughout our lives; emotionally and financially. He never let stress get to us; he was always there with a kind and encouraging word, as well as the ability to let us laugh at ourselves! He worked hard every single day for us and our country through his service in the military. He is a great man and role model!

My dad raised two kids after my mother ran off when we were in elementary school. I never realized how much he had to sacrifice so we wouldn’t know how bad things were. He is my hero and never lets me down! It doesn’t matter what I need or what time of day it is my dad would make sure he was there even though I’m 27 now. My friends all love him too because he is that amazing of a person! His motto is be friends with everyone!

My Dad is my hero because he is always there for my brothers and I. He has an amazing work ethic and worked hard all our lives to provide us with the best. He was the breadwinner for most of our childhood so my Mom could stay home and raise us. He gave up promotions because he me a promise that we would not move once I started kindergarten. He not selfish-he will give his kids the last piece piece of his favorite food if we asked. He never had a fancy car when we were growing up so he could spend money on all the things we wanted like soccer lessons for my brother and acting class for me. He is also Mr. Fix it in the flesh. We joke he can fix anything nonhuman- he even fixes suff for friends and family in his spare time for only the cost of parts. He has saved me a lot of money in car repair alone. He helped me leave a bad relationship. My dad is hard working and has put his family first my whole life. I have many many more examples too many to write here. I have to say my Dad is my hero and has always come to my rescue –no matter what he is on my side.

My dad is awesome. Even though he’s going through a lot—his mom is getting dialysis and my younger sister being in college, it really taking a toll on him emotionally and financially, he stays grounded. I think he deserves a lot because he’s not often recognized when he does the good stuff just the bad stuff. Whenever I decide to get married I would like that person to have a heart like my dad.

But, wallets aren’t Lori’s only creation. There’s still time to tell us why your Dad’s a hero for a chance to win a Fire Hose Belt. […]
