May 3, 2011

Our Uncommon Moms are beautiful, intelligent, caring and all-round fantastic! Since Mother’s Day is just a few days away, we’re showing the world just how much we love our mamas by sharing what makes them so special.

Hope, a member of our warehouse team, is stationed in our giftboxing department. She’s careful to make sure Mother’s Day gifts are handled with care when they’re being packaged in those blue boxes and tied with big bows!

Hope says that she and her mom have similar personalities and share much in common. Hope’s mom, Jannie, is now a great grandma! Read on to learn more about what makes this great grandma great!

Ja’von’s Uncommon Mom

April 27, 2011

Mother’s day is May 8th, but we’re skipping the greeting cards and opting to show our moms some love blog style! Today, Ugooder Ja’von tells us a little about her Uncommon Mama, Denise.

Ja’von’s Uncommon Mom

What’s one of your favorite memories with your mom?
Her kindness. She rarely ever gets upset!

What valuable lessons have you learned from your mom that you couldn’t have learned without her?
There are so many things that I’ve learned from her! My top 3 are:
1. I learned that being a single mom doesn’t have to be the end of your life but the beginning of a fun-filled chapter, in a book that’s even better than the first.
2. You never know who’s going to see you, so always be ready to make a first impression.
3. Nothing is owed to you and no one will work as hard for you as you will for yourself, so always dig your heels in and bring your “A” game.

Uncommon Moms

Mother’s day is just around the corner—and we’re celebrating by sharing a bit about the fantastic moms that helped us grow into uncommon individuals!

Here, Ugooder Emma, shares a bit about her mom, Mary Jo.

What’s one of your favorite memories with your mom?

When I was little we lived in the tiniest apartment in Dallas, TX, because my mother was a single parent and it was all she could provide at the time. She always wanted to give me a big yard to play in, so every summer she would improvise. We would blare the radio in her Ford Pinto, in front of our stoop, and have “water fun” outside in our bathing suits. She would wash the car and I would play in the sprinkler while we both belted what we believed to be the words of the song (usually totally wrong words, by the way) and dance.

She didn’t always have a lot to give me in the way of luxuries, but these days out in the yard were some of the best summer days I can remember to date. When fall and winter would creep up on us in mid October, I would be heart broken to have to let go of those moments we shared!
